Look at the above image and you can see the higher winds beginning to expand in coverage on the west/southwest side of the storm.
The low is impressive. The pressure is down to 984mb and is centered over Chicago.
Just before 4pm CT a 63mph wind gust was measured at Spirit Airport in Chesterfield, Missouri. That is the highest wind gust measured today in the metro area.
